About Us

Our Business

Disciplined Investors began investing for clients in 1999.  We currently have about 110 clients and $36 million in assets under management.  While most clients are from Texas, several are from other states, and a few are from foreign countries like England and Mexico.

For Disciplined Investors, the investment process begins with extensive communication.  Investment goals and a target asset allocation are identified with each client based on their financial needs and resources, time horizon, risk tolerance, and tax status.  After placing assets in a discretionary account, custom portfolios are created for each client.

Portfolios and individual assets are monitored and adjusted over time.  Each quarter, a personal letter and graphical reports are sent to clients that describe the portfolio's performance versus comparable benchmarks and the portfolio's composition.

Core investment principles of Disciplined Investors include:

  • Long-term perspective
  • Thorough research
  • Diversification and controlled risks
  • Low costs

Who We Are

Todd Stoner                          President,  Investment Advisor

At the ripe-old age of 13 Todd Stoner bought his first stock.  After majoring in Finance and Economics at Baylor University and getting an MBA at Cornell University, Todd worked at the headquarters of Hewlett-Packard in California.  Todd and family returned home to Texas in 1989 where he became a financial manager at Plantation Foods in Waco.  A favorite responsibility was guiding the company's 401(k) retirement plan which grew to $26 million in assets.  In 1999, Todd decided to make investment management his full time job and he started Disciplined Investors.

Outside of his business, Todd enjoys his energetic family and activities with them like Boy Scouts, soccer, and church.  When possible, Todd still plays tennis and was part of the Waco men's tennis team that won a national championship in 2006.  Below is the wonderful family of Todd Stoner.
